SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of John "Jack" DeLaMar of Champaign, who
4passed away on March 26, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack DeLaMar was born to Miriam and Gordon
6DeLaMar in 1945; he grew up in Chicago and attended Leo High
7School; he graduated with honors from the University of
8Illinois; he later graduated from the University of Illinois
9College of Law, where he was elected to the Order of Coif; he
10married Melody McCormick, and they were married for 53 years;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jack DeLaMar began his legal career in private
13practice; he then served as an assistant state's attorney for
14Champaign County for six years; he was appointed associate
15judge for Champaign County at the age of 33 in 1979; he was
16elected circuit judge in 1996; he retired after 23 years on the
17bench; and
 
18    WHEREAS, After retiring, Jack DeLaMar volunteered with
19CASA, where he zealously advocated for abused and neglected
20children; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Jack DeLaMar was committed to his faith; he was

1known as a hard worker and a great athlete; he played softball
2for 60 years and retired from senior softball at age 68; he
3also enjoyed a lifetime of hiking, biking, and water skiing;
4he was a lifelong Chicago Cubs and Bears fan; he loved his
5family, friends, and Michigan sunsets; he will be remembered
6for living his life with passion for his family and a devotion
7to the protection of children; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Jack DeLaMar was the loving husband of Melody,
9the joyful father of Shannon (Ernest) Noa, Cathleen (Joseph)
10Lindt and Shawn (David) Lapetino, and the proud grandfather of
11Sean (Lauren) Noa, Alex Noa, Joshua Noa, Jimmy Lindt, Ashlynn
12Lindt, Colleen Lindt, Nicholas Lapetino, and Jonathan
13Lapetino; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16John "Jack" DeLaMar and extend our sincere condolences to his
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Jack DeLaMar as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
