SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Dr. Douglas Lind Rokke of Rantoul, who
4passed away on January 15, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Rokke was born in Libertyville to Reynold L.
6and Ruth P. (Schwerman) Rokke on April 22, 1949; he married
7Carol Seeber in 1972; he served in the U.S. Air Force and the
8Army Reserve, where he was involved in Vietnam and Desert
9Storm; he earned his doctorate from the University of Illinois
10in technology education; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dr. Rokke taught environmental science at the
12college level; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dr. Rokke was a member of St. Elizabeth's
14Catholic Church, where he often served as lector; he recently
15received the Life Time Achievement award from the Wall Street
16Journal Who's Who; he spoke on a national radio show, The
17Warrior Connection, where he interacted with numerous
18veterans; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Dr. Rokke was preceded in death by his parents; a
20brother; and a sister; and

1    WHEREAS, Dr. Rokke is survived by his wife, Carol; his
2sons, Matthew (Melynda) and Mark (Jennifer) Rokke; and his
3grandchildren, Andrew, Lawrence, and Cade Rokke; therefore, be
4it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Dr. Douglas Lind Rokke and extend our sincere condolences to
8his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Dr. Rokke as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
