SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Charles Wesley "Charlie" Armstrong of
4Moline, who passed away on April 10, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charlie Armstrong was born in Joy to Herbert and
6Helen (Schaub) Armstrong on December 2, 1938; he was stationed
7with the U.S. Air Force in Minot, North Dakota and married Lucy
8Froehlich in Dickinson, North Dakota on January 19, 1960; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Charlie Armstrong retired from ALCOA in 2001
10after 40 years of working as a pipe fitter and mill mechanic;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Charlie Armstrong was an avid reader and enjoyed
13woodworking and fishing; he was a black belt in karate and put
14his initials on everything he owned; he loved cologne, keeping
15his lawn groomed and cars polished, and performing magic
16tricks for his family and friends; he was a member of the
17Moline Viking Club and the Rock Island York Rite Masonic
18Lodge; his family was his pride and joy, and he especially
19enjoyed being the grandfather and great-grandfather of many
20beautiful children; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Charlie Armstrong was the dear husband of 61

1years of Lucy; the loving father of Scott Armstrong, Jill
2Armstrong, and Jenny Butrym and their spouses; he was the
3caring grandfather of one grandson and seven granddaughters
4and was blessed with 16 great-grandchildren with two more on
5the way; he was also a caring brother of Marilyn Mix and
6Russell Armstrong; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Charles Wesley "Charlie" Armstrong and extend our sincere
10condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
11him; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Charlie Armstrong as an expression
14of our deepest sympathy.
