SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Calvin Lewis Peters of East Moline,
4who passed away on April 20, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Calvin Peters was born to James Alfred and Zettie
6(Dotson) Peters in Belton, Arkansas on April 10, 1924; he
7graduated from Blevins High School in Blevins, Arkansas and
8from Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia,
9Arkansas; he married Nancy Jean McAdams in Nashville, Arkansas
10on August 4, 1950; he served in the U.S. Army during World War
11II; while serving with General McArthur in the far East, he
12earned five battle stars; he then served in the Army Reserves
13for 20 years, retiring as captain in 1968; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Calvin Peters worked at the Rock Island Arsenal
15for 32 years, retiring in 1980; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Calvin Peters was an active member of First
17Baptist Church, Moline for 47 years; he was active in the
18Masonic Fraternity, as a 61-year member of Doric Lodge #319,
19AF & AM, Moline Lodge #1014, AF & AM, Silvis Lodge #898, AF &
20AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Moline, Kaaba Shrine,
21Davenport, and Moline Hi-12 Club; he was also a life member of
22the Reserve Officers Association, VFW Post #2056, and American

2    WHEREAS, Calvin Peters is survived by his wife of 70
3years, Nancy; his two sons, William C. (Donna Marie) Peters
4and James H. Peters; and his brother, J. Dale Peters;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Calvin Lewis Peters and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Calvin Peters as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
