SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Kyle Robeson of Champaign, who passed
4away on April 10, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kyle Robeson was born in Champaign on August 28,
61929; he attended elementary school in Champaign and graduated
7from Uni High School; he studied business at Miami University
8in Oxford, Ohio; he served in the U.S. Air Force and was
9stationed at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul and Sheppard
10Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he went through
11engine and aircraft mechanical training; he attended J.L.
12Hudson Co.'s Executive Training Program in Detroit and worked
13for McGreevey, Werring & Howell in New York City; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Kyle Robeson began his career at Robeson's
15Department Store, the downtown Champaign department store
16opened by his grandfather in 1874, as the manager of the
17children and infants' department in 1956; through his years of
18working, managing, and owning Robeson's, he worked with many
19wonderful people, served many customers, and developed
20cherished memories; he was forced to make the difficult
21decision to close the store in 1990, but he was afforded the
22opportunity to pursue his passion of real-estate development;

1    WHEREAS, Kyle Robeson was a member of the Champaign Rotary
2Club for 63 years, where he maintained perfect attendance for
350 years; he was committed to volunteering and donated to many
4charitable organizations, supporting the Champaign-Urbana
5community that he loved; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Kyle Robeson was known for his zest for life and
7adventure; he enjoyed flying airplanes, classic cars, pheasant
8hunting, fishing, horseback riding, skeet shooting, whitewater
9rafting, big-band music, dancing, photography, Illinois
10athletics, technology, the conservation of natural areas, and
11the thrills of lawn maintenance; he will be remembered for his
12generous heart, big personality, inquisitive nature, and
13vivacious spirit; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Kyle Robeson is survived by his wife of 58 years,
15Phyllis; his children, Eric (Lisa) and Kim (Dean); and his
16grandchildren, Forrest, Ella, and Will; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Kyle Robeson and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
20friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
