SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Hector Poelvoorde Jr. of East Moline,
4who passed away on April 4, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Hector Poelvoorde was born to Hector Sr. and
6Bernice (Granet) Poelvoorde in Moline on October 4, 1931; he
7served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict; he married
8Joan Malmstrom at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline on May
914, 1955; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Hector Poelvoorde worked at Johnson's Sheet Metal
11and Schebler Company as a journeyman; he spent his retirement
12years working at the Taxslayer Center and as a school crossing
13guard for the East Moline school district #37; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Hector Poelvoorde served as a Eucharistic
15minister for his church; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Hector Poelvoorde enjoyed life when he was
17surrounded by people and loved sitting outdoors in the warm
18sun; he spent time in his vegetable garden in the summer and
19spent countless hours with his family on camping trips; he was
20a Chicago Cubs fan and had a passion for crossword puzzles and
21sweets; and

1    WHEREAS, Hector Poelvoorde was preceded in death by his
2parents; his granddaughter, Kayla Jackson; and his siblings,
3George Poelvoorde, Joyce Kunst, and Pat Nicewanner; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Hector Poelvoorde is survived by his wife of 65
5years, Joan; his daughters, Robyn (Jim) Seals, Chris Ward,
6Michelle (Dean) Springer, Annette Poelvoorde (Jamie
7Roudabush), and Kelly (Bill) LaFerrara; his 17 grandchildren;
8and his 27 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Hector Poelvoorde and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Hector Poelvoorde as an expression
16of our deepest sympathy.
