2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Daniel "Dan" W. Cadigan of | ||||||
4 | Springfield, who passed away on April 16, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan was born to Joseph and Eva Kress | ||||||
6 | Cadigan in Springfield on October 31, 1939; he graduated from | ||||||
7 | Cathedral Boys High School in 1957; he attended Springfield | ||||||
8 | Junior College and graduated from Washington University in St. | ||||||
9 | Louis with his Bachelor of Science in Accounting; he married | ||||||
10 | Mary Margaret "Peggy" Weber on October 18, 1969; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan joined the firm Kerber, Eck & | ||||||
12 | Braeckel LLP in 1961 where he was a managing partner; he worked | ||||||
13 | at KEB for 43 years, enjoyed his colleagues, and was a leader, | ||||||
14 | mentor, and role model to many; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan's volunteer efforts spanned more than | ||||||
16 | 50 years and included youth, business, and governmental | ||||||
17 | organizations; he held many leadership positions and served on | ||||||
18 | the boards for many community organizations, such as the | ||||||
19 | American Business Club, the Illinois CPA Society, the American | ||||||
20 | Institute of CPAs, the Association of Government Accountants, | ||||||
21 | the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, Leadership Springfield, | ||||||
22 | the Chaine de Rotisseurs, and the Marine Bank Board;

1 | on the County Board, was a United Way Chairman, and taught | ||||||
2 | accounting at Springfield College in Illinois; he loved | ||||||
3 | volunteering at various local schools and taught current | ||||||
4 | events at Blessed Sacrament School and, in recent years, at | ||||||
5 | Graham Elementary School; he was on many fundraising | ||||||
6 | committees at Sacred Heart-Griffin over the years; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan was a member of the Sangamo Club and | ||||||
8 | the Island Bay Yacht Club; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan was the "Irishman of the Year" in | ||||||
10 | 1986 and was the 52nd Recipient of the Copley First Citizen | ||||||
11 | Award in 2014; he was the first member of the Sacred | ||||||
12 | Heart-Griffin Hall of Fame; and | ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan was an avid history buff, a Los | ||||||
14 | Angeles Dodgers fan, and a University of Illinois fan; he | ||||||
15 | generously gave to the "I Fund" and loved Illinois and Sacred | ||||||
16 | Heart-Griffin sports; he had a great sense of humor and loved | ||||||
17 | to tell jokes; and | ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
19 | and his brother, Patrick Cadigan; and | ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan is survived by his wife, Peggy | ||||||
21 | Cadigan; his daughter, Shannon White; his grandchildren, Blake |

1 | and Benjamin White; his sister, Susan A. Cadigan; his | ||||||
2 | sisters-in-law, Patty Cadigan and Patty (Scott) Shapiro; his | ||||||
3 | brother-in-law, Mike Weber; his one niece; and his six | ||||||
4 | nephews; therefore, be it

5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
7 | Daniel "Dan" W. Cadigan and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
8 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
9 | further

10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the family of Dan Cadigan as an expression of our | ||||||
12 | deepest sympathy.
