SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Joanne Planek, who passed away on
4October 1, 2020 at the age of 84; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joanne Planek was born in Chicago on December 24,
61935; she was one of six children; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Joanne Planek graduated from Loyola University
8Chicago in 1970; she obtained a PhD in Education in 1981; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Joanne Planek dedicated her career of more than
1050 years in service to Catholic schools; she served in the
11roles of teacher, administrator, consultant, and government
12liaison; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Joanne Planek enjoyed the arts, traveling, and
14storytelling; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Joanne Planek shared her generous heart with
16family and friends; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Joanne Planek was preceded in death by her
18husband, Charles "Chuck" Planek; and

1    WHEREAS, Joanne Planek is survived by her children,
2Charles (Linda), Kathleen (George), Mary (Sean) Toohey, John
3(Mary), William (Kathleen), and Robert (Wendy); her
4grandchildren, Joanne (Andrew) Barkmeier, James Rolff, William
5(Allyson), Mary Jo Toohey, Charles, Emily, Elizabeth, Mary
6Kate, John (Isabel), Tom, Margaret, Kathleen, Annie, William,
7Ryan, Lilli, Maeve, Robert, and Caroline Planek; her
8great-grandchildren, Amelia, Charlotte, Susanna, and Mae
9Barkmeier, and Connor Planek; her brother-in-law, Thomas
10Planek; and her nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Joanne Planek and extend our sincere condolences to her
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Joanne Planek as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
