SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Sandra Jo Carter, who passed away on
4February 25, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sandra Jo Carter was born in Harvey on January
613, 1938; as a young girl, she was raised by her grandparents,
7Clarence and Cleo Chesney; she graduated from Thornton
8Township High School in 1956; she married Harold Carter in
91962, and he preceded her in death in 2016; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Sandra Jo Carter worked for the Illinois Central
11Railroad for several years until she was married in 1962, and
12she later raised a family; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Sandra Jo Carter propelled her love of children
14into a career, running her own daycare business for over 30
15years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Sandra Jo Carter was very involved in
17volunteerism at her children's schools; she also served as a
18troop leader for Brownies and Cub Scouts; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Sandra Jo Carter had a passion for books and
20movies; she idolized Clark Gable and loved the movie Gone with

1the Wind; she adored pansies and goldfinches; she loved
2hearing her grandchildren sing "You are My Sunshine" to her;
3she was passionate about Hawaii and went there on a dream
4vacation with her family in 1998; she will be remembered for
5her devotion to her family; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Sandra Jo Carter was the wife of Harold for
7nearly 54 years; the mother of her adopted children, Scott and
8Melia; the mother-in-law of Ginny Carter and Tom Cousins; and
9the grandmother of Kailan Carter, Jessica Carter, Ava Cousins,
10and Eli Cousins; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Sandra Jo Carter and extend our sincere condolences to her
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Sandra Jo Carter as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
