SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Raphael "Ralph" Diederich of Wonder
4Lake, who passed away on January 13, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ralph Diederich was born on April 4, 1947; he
6grew up in Chicago, where he attended Catholic school; he
7served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970, and he was
8stationed in Da Nang, Vietnam and became a trained mechanic
9during his service; he married Patricia on April 22, 1967, and
10they had four children; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ralph Diederich had a career as a mechanic and
12truck driver; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ralph Diederich was committed to community
14involvement, and he was a retired Wonder Lake volunteer
15firefighter, EMT, and a search and rescue scuba diver; he was
16also a past trustee; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Ralph Diederich volunteered for many military
18organizations in order to support veterans in any way he
19could; he was a past commander of the VFW; he was also a member
20of the American Legion, the Military Order of the Cootie, and
21the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree; he was also a board member

1of the VAC and involved in PLAV, Vietnow, Vrein, and AMVETS;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Ralph Diederich enjoyed spending time with his
4family, and they spent many summers in Wisconsin Dells,
5Wisconsin; he enjoyed coaching youth baseball, boating,
6camping, flying, and watching NASCAR and football; he was
7known for his amazing, funny, and heartfelt stories and for
8being a dreamer who never gave up on his dreams and encouraged
9everyone around him to dream big; he will be missed by all; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Ralph Diederich was preceded in death by his
11parents, Jerry and Bernice Diederich, and his brother-in-law,
12Marty Koelper; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ralph Diederich is survived by his wife of almost
1454 years, Patricia (Triggs); his son, John (Lynda) Diederich;
15his daughter, Nancy; his son, Brian; his daughter, Dana; his
16sister, Cathy (Tom) Engleman; his brother, Mike (Margaret)
17Oester; his sister-in-law, Kathleen (Jim) Pieroni; and his
18sister-in-law, Mary Beth Koelper; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Raphael "Ralph" Diederich and extend our sincere condolences
22to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be

3presented to the family of Ralph Diederich as an expression of
4our deepest sympathy.
