SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Katherine C. Schultz of Woodstock, who
4passed away on March 12, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Katherine Schultz was born in Woodstock to Emery
6and Glenna (Francisco) Cross on October 5, 1941; she married
7Donald Schultz on June 18, 1960, and he preceded her in death
8on May 2, 2011; she then married Paul Laudick on November 8,
92013; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Katherine Schultz began her career at the McHenry
11County Court House in the County Clerk's Office on October 16,
121959; she was first elected county clerk on December 1, 1990,
13and she continued serving in that role until she retired on
14November 29, 2014; under her leadership, McHenry County became
15the first large county to use optical voting machines, and she
16was recognized for her research and implementation by the
17Illinois House of Representatives; she served on many
18committees and was proud of bringing electronic voting to
19McHenry County; she was named County Clerk of the Year by the
20Illinois Association of County Clerks and Recorders in 2011;
21she was the only county employee to serve for over 50 years and
22was recognized for this achievement by the Illinois General
23Assembly, which noted she was responsible for improving the

1transparency, efficiency, and integrity of McHenry County
2elections; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Katherine Schultz loved bowling and golfing; she
4was an avid reader; she also loved to travel, and she visited
5every U.S. state except for Hawaii, Washington, and Oregon;
6she was loved and will be missed; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Katherine Schultz was preceded in death by her
8parents; her husband, Donald; her brothers, Emery and Rick
9Cross; her daughter, Cynthia Swan; and her granddaughter,
10Tonya Guercio; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Katherine Schultz is survived by her husband,
12Paul; her son, Timothy (Tammy) Schultz; her grandchildren,
13Bobbi Sennett and Katherine Paige Schultz; her brother, Glenn
14(Sharon) Cross; her sisters, Dodie Streit and Peggy (Dale)
15Joosten; and her stepchildren and step-grandchildren;
16therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Katherine C. Schultz and extend our sincere condolences to her
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
