SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Noel Charles Dicks of Arthur, who
4passed away on June 4, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Noel Dicks was born in Broadlands to Kenneth and
6Mary Logan Dicks on September 27, 1929; he graduated from the
7University of Illinois College of Pharmacy and served in the
8United States Army during the Korean War as a pharmacist at
9Brooke Army Hospital in San Antonio, Texas; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Noel Dicks married Iris Jeanne Lape in 1957, and
11they lived briefly in Decatur until he purchased the Grantham
12Drug Store in Arthur in 1960 and renamed it Dicks Pharmacy; he
13remained the sole proprietor until his retirement in 1995; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Noel Dicks committed his life to the Masonic
15Lodge and the Scottish Rite beginning in 1955 at Arthur Lodge
16No. 825; he received his degrees there and held many offices in
17the organization, ultimately rising to the office of Grand
18Master of the Grand Lodge of Illinois in 2005; he was
19re-elected in 2006; he also held many offices in the Danville
20Valley Scottish Rite; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Noel Dicks was preceded in death by his parents;

1his brothers, Wallace and Darrell Dicks; and his
2sister-in-law, Joan Dicks; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Noel Dicks is survived by his wife of 63 years,
4Iris; his sons, Bruce (Maggie) and Mark; his granddaughters,
5Emily and Michelle (Wesley); his grandsons, Sam (Maria) and
6Jack; his sister-in-law, Janece Dicks; his brother-in-law and
7sister-in-law, Dr. Keith and Dr. Phyllis Lape; and numerous
8nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Noel Charles Dicks and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Noel Dicks as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
