SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Gary D. Lehman of East Moline, who
4passed away on June 21, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gary Lehman was born to Albert and Helen (Wanzel)
6Lehman in Davenport, Iowa on January 22, 1945; he graduated
7from Bettendorf High School in 1960; during the Vietnam War,
8he was a Seabee in the U.S. Navy from 1964 until 1968; he met
9Mary Savala at Willy G's in East Moline in 2000, and they
10married on Mackinaw Island, Michigan on June 14, 2004; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Upon returning from the service, Gary Lehman
12owned and operated a Shell Gas Station in Bettendorf from 1969
13until 1972 and a Conoco Station from 1972 until 1992; he worked
14as a custodian for 21 years at Thomas Jefferson Elementary in
15Bettendorf, retiring in May of 2014; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Gary Lehman enjoyed riding his recumbent bike and
17often pedaled 12 miles to work; he also enjoyed playing
18euchre, antiquing, and zip-lining; he liked taking spur of the
19moment road trips; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Gary Lehman was preceded in death by his parents
21and his sisters, Lois and Rita; and

1    WHEREAS, Gary Lehman is survived by his wife, Mary; his
2stepchildren, Joe Lambrecht and Jeremy Lambrecht; his
3grandchildren; Alexa, Isabella, A.J., Owen, Jayce, and
4Kennedy; his siblings, Betty Schneekloth, Pete (Colleen)
5Lehman, Wayne (Jean) Lehman, Dale (Susie) Lehman, Sandy (Skip)
6Boldt, Ronnie (Linda Carillo) Lehman, Carol Jansen, Diane
7(Gary) Werts, and Dick (Chris) Lehman; and his host of nieces
8and nephews; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Gary D. Lehman and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Gary Lehman as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
