SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Peter John Pasquel of Peoria, who
4passed away on July 30, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Peter Pasquel was born in Peoria on May 9, 1940
6and adopted by Helene (Stenstrom) and George O. Pasquel; he
7attended the primary school at St. Thomas parish and the
8Spalding Academy; he received his Bachelor of Arts from
9Bradley University and served in the Illinois National Guard
10for six years, with active duty on the streets of Chicago
11during the tumultuous 1960s; he married Rose Marie Ramos on
12April 11, 1964; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Peter Pasquel worked at George O. Pasquel Co., a
14wholesale commercial food and equipment business, for
15approximately 60 years; he was an extraordinary salesman, and
16there was no customer, large or small, who did not get his full
17attention; his work was his joy, his love, and his hobby; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Peter Pasquel was a devoted community activist
19and served on several non-profit boards, including the OSF
20HealthCare Foundation and the Center for the Prevention of
21Abuse; he served on the commissions for several sheriffs and
22was honored to be inducted into the African American Hall of

1Fame Museum in Peoria; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Peter Pasquel enjoyed the adventurous traveling
3options his wife planned and will be remembered as a man who
4certainly delighted in the good life; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Peter Pasquel is survived by his wife; his
6children, Maria (Daniel) Whitson, Melanie (Rick) Picl,
7Kristine Pasquel, and Amy Donovan; his grandchildren, Rowena
8and Fiona Whitson, Hannah, Gabriella, and Isabella Hernandez,
9Sophia (Samuel) Olson, and Mallory Picl; and his
10brother-in-law, Phil (Diana) Ramos, and their children, Heidi,
11Jon, Alicia, Jason, Eric, and Phillip; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Peter John Pasquel and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Peter Pasquel as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
