SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Wesley Arthur Wildman, who passed away
4on August 6, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman was born to Arthur W. Wildman and
6Louise Rankin-Wildman in Chicago on May 22, 1931; he was
7raised on the South Side of the city; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman graduated from Calumet High
9School; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman completed his undergraduate and
11postgraduate studies at the University of Chicago; he obtained
12a bachelor's degree in 1951, a Juris Doctor in 1953, and a
13master's degree in 1955; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman was a law practitioner and
15professor; his specialty was labor law, specifically
16management representation during contract negotiations and
17labor disputes; his clients included the Chicago Board of
18Education and the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman was often cited in local news

1reports concerning strikes by employees at high-profile
2companies; the news outlets included the Chicago Tribune and
3Chicago Business among others; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman's legal career included a stint at
5the Franczek Law Firm; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman was appointed by former Illinois
7Governor James Thompson as one of the three original members
8of the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman taught industrial relations for
10decades at the University of Chicago Graduate School of
11Business, now the Booth School of Business, and had a strong
12and lasting impact on many of his students, including Booth
13alumnus and now Senate President Don Harmon; after retirement,
14he continued teaching as an adjunct professor of Public Policy
15until 2014; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman was preceded in death by his
17parents and his brother; and
 
18    WHEREAS, At the time of his death, Wesley Wildman was
19survived by his wife, Andrea; his children, Kathleen (Nancy
20Katz), Christopher (Karen), Jeanne (Chris Felknor), Ellen
21(Mary English), Richard (partner Sara Truelsen), Anne, and

1David (partner Laura Candre); and his grandchildren, Andrew
2and Jordan Felknor; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Wesley Arthur Wildman and extend our sincere condolences to
6his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Wesley Wildman as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
