SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Lorraine Little Jackson of Benld, who
4passed away on December 8, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lorraine Jackson was born to James Forbes and Ida
6Arndt Forbes in New Douglas on April 22, 1933; she married
7Marvin Little, and he passed away in 1983; she later married
8William Jackson; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Lorraine Jackson retired as a waitress and
10restaurant manager for the Mill Cafe; in 1983 with her husband
11Marvin, she founded the Benld Adopt-A-Pet, a not-for-profit
12no-kill shelter; she remained its shelter director until her
13passing, overseeing the adoption of over 30,000 animals during
14her tenure; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Lorraine Jackson was a friend, a mentor, and a
16leader; she was a formidable woman who loved animals and
17tirelessly dedicated her life towards helping them; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Lorraine Jackson was preceded in death by her
19parents; both of her spouses; her stepson, Marvin Little; her
20brother, James Merle Forbes; and her sister, Velma Talick; and

1    WHEREAS, Lorraine Jackson is survived by her stepdaughter,
2Barbara Smothers; her six step-grandchildren; her sisters,
3Laverne Slightom and Jeanie Fox; and her brother, Ron Forbes;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Lorraine Little Jackson and extend our sincere condolences to
8her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Lorraine Jackson as an expression
12of our deepest sympathy.
