SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Dennis E. Grant of Georgetown, who
4passed away on January 08, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dennis Grant was born to Norman Grant Sr. and
6Rosalie (Walker) Grant on May 02, 1955; he graduated from
7Georgetown High School in 1974; he completed Heavy Equipment
8Operator Apprenticeship through Local 841; he was previously
9married to Brenda English, and they had a son, Cory Grant; he
10then married Teresa "Tee" Porter on December 19, 1982, and
11they added Clayton Grant to their family in 1984; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dennis Grant built roads and bridges for many
13years; he became a stay at home dad after a serious car
14accident, which enabled him to play a major part in raising
15most of his grandchildren; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dennis Grant was a corvette enthusiast; alongside
17his wife Tee, he was a lifetime member of the National Corvette
18Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky; they also enjoyed attending
19the Labor Day Celebration in Kentucky for many years and Mid
20America in Effingham; he enjoyed riding his Harley and made
21many new friends riding on many benefits and memorial rides,
22and he often spent Sundays with his riding friends; and

1    WHEREAS, Dennis Grant was known for helping others to a
2fault, having a great sense of humor, and loving to dance when
3the opportunity arose; most of all, he loved his family and was
4proud of each and every one of them; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dennis Grant was preceded in death by his
6parents; his grandmother, Lucille Smith; his youngest brother,
7Gregory Grant; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles
8and Connie Porter; his brothers-in-law, Ken Johnson and Brent
9Lock; his nephew, Eric Klein; and his special friends, Hugh
10Brooks and Renee Pajak; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dennis Grant is survived by his wife, Teresa
12"Tee" Porter Grant; his sons, Cory Grant and Clayton Grant;
13his grandchildren, Khayd Grant, Rylan Grant, Dayton Grant,
14Tegyn Grant, Brasken Grant, and Jazelle Grant; his
15great-granddaughter, Katana Grant; his brothers, Norman Jr.,
16Cary (Jane), Darrell, and Tyrone; his sisters, Judy Dargin,
17Patricia Johnson, and Deborah Grant; his brothers-in-law and
18sisters-in-law, Mike (Kathie) Porter, Kevin (Denise) Porter,
19Marsha Lock, and Joe Porter; his special nephews, Jeremy
20"Jboye" Johnson, Sean Bracey, James Dargin Jr., Kelton
21Sandlin, Maciah Grant, Nevan Grant, Levi (Kaitlin) Porter,
22Dusty Porter, Jerry (Leeann) Porter, and Dominque Chavira; his
23special nieces, Casey (Bere) Shutes, Codi (Kristen) Lock,

1Kerri Grant, LaTeesha Davis, Janene Grant, Shelby (Mitchell)
2Ummel, Jacqueline Dargin, and Lacey Ford; and his special

5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Dennis E. Grant and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Dennis Grant as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
