SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Denysia Bastas of Springfield, who
4passed away January 11, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Denysia Bastas was born in Benton to Thomas and
6Laura (Perkins) Bastas on February 13, 1928; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Denysia Bastas was a valued employee of the State
8of Illinois for more than 45 years; she began her government
9career in 1953 in the office of Secretary of State Charles
10Carpentier; she later worked in the office of Attorney General
11Latham Castle, for the Teachers' College Board, and for the
12Illinois Senate, where she assisted some of the State's most
13distinguished legislators; she was a key assistant to
14Lieutenant Governor Bob Kustra from 1991 until her retirement
15in 1998; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Denysia Bastas belonged to the First Christian
17Church in both Springfield and Benton; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Denysia Bastas was preceded in death by her
19parents and by her brother, Paul Bastas; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Denysia Bastas is survived by her brother, Bob

1(Yolanda) Bastas; her nieces, Deitri (Mike) Brixey and Nicole
2(Tom) Jett; and her nephews, Craig (Rita), Rick (Gail), and
3Neal (Julia) Bastas; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Denysia Bastas and extend our sincere condolences to her
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Denysia Bastas as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
