SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Donald R. Hartwig of Rock Island, who
4passed away on December 31, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Hartwig was born to William and Grace
6(Hall) Hartwig in Rock Island on January 6, 1925; he graduated
7from Rock Island High School; he attended St. Ambrose College
8in Davenport, Iowa and graduated with a degree in Mechanical
9Engineering from Iowa State University; he married Beverly Ann
10Waters in Moline on January 20, 1951; he served overseas as a
11private first class in the 2nd Armored Division of the U.S.
12Army during World War II; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Donald Hartwig was employed as a product design
14engineer at John Deere Plow Planter Works in Moline for over 32
15years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Donald Hartwig was a member of the In-Fisherman
17Club for over 40 years and the American Society of Mechanical
18Engineers; he was active at St. Pius X Catholic Church, where
19he was a founding member; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Donald Hartwig loved playing tennis and coached
21boys and girls tennis at Alleman, United Township, and Rock

1Island High Schools; while tennis was his passion, he also
2enjoyed golfing, fishing, and playing cards; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Donald Hartwig was preceded in death by his
4parents; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Hartwig is survived by his wife of 71
6years, Beverly; his children, Kathleen Hartwig, Judith (John)
7Johnson, James (Martha) Hartwig, Robert (Marcia) Hartwig, and
8Jack Hartwig; his six grandchildren; and his six
9great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Donald R. Hartwig and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Donald Hartwig as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
