SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Madeleine McAfee of Lombard, who
4passed away on November 18, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Madeleine McAfee was born on September 27, 1956;
6she earned a Master of Business Administration from the
7University of Chicago; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Madeleine McAfee worked as an engineer and
9marketing manager at Motorola for mission-critical
10communications infrastructure products; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Madeleine McAfee volunteered with multiple
12organizations, including coaching Lombard Park District soccer
13and basketball from 1995 to 1998, serving as a den mother for
14the Cub Scouts from 1995 to 1999, serving with the People's
15Resource Center from 2005 to 2021, and assisting the
16Chicagoland Lab Rescue from 2015 to 2021, through which she
17fostered more than 60 dogs; after Hurricane Katrina, she
18traveled with the Willow Creek Church to Mississippi in August
192006 to assist with food banks, painting houses, debris
20removal, repairs, the construction of damaged homes, cooking,
21and serving other volunteers; she was involved with Girls on
22the Run (GOTR) from March to May 2016; she participated in five

1Chicago Breast Cancer 3-day 60 mile walks, through which she
2raised more than $12,000 for the fight against breast cancer,
3and ran five times in the Foodie 5k to benefit the Northern
4Illinois Food Bank; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Madeleine McAfee was a member of the Grant
6Writers Networking Group; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Madeleine McAfee was recognized as the Non-profit
8Volunteer of the Year by the Western Suburbs Philanthropic
9Network in 2020; she was also inducted into the Carleton
10College Athletic Hall of Fame; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Madeleine McAfee loved the outdoors, sports, and
12her grandchildren; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Madeleine McAfee is survived by her husband,
14Clark Adams; her children, Howell, Erik, and Andrew Adams; and
15her grandchildren, Cali, Jacob, Levi, Alexa, Isaac, Owen, and
16Ethan; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Madeleine McAfee and extend our sincere condolences to her
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
