SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Paul J. Weldon, who passed away on May
424, 2021 at the age of 64; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Paul Weldon was born on November 30, 1956, the
6fifth of six children of Bill and Patricia Weldon; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Paul Weldon was raised in River Forest, where he
8attended St. Lukes and Roosevelt Middle School and later
9graduated from Fenwick High School in Oak Park; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Paul Weldon continued his education, graduating
11from Loyola University Chicago in 1978 and then receiving his
12master's degree in Business Administration from Roosevelt
13University in Chicago; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Paul Weldon became the sole proprietor of Van
15Bergen & Greener Inc. after his father's passing in 1988; Van
16Bergen & Greener, located in Maywood, is an automotive
17manufacturing company known for being the only U.S.
18manufacturer of starter drives and starter drive components;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Paul Weldon handled his business and private

1affairs as a thoughtful and generous man; he was described by
2friends and family as an optimistic, reliable, and kind man
3who had a warm smile and generous heart; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Paul Weldon was a deeply religious man who was
5inspired by the lives of Mother Teresa, Padre Pio, John Paul
6II, and St. Faustina; he always made sure to live his faith and
7was a generous supporter of many Catholic charities; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Paul Weldon was preceded in death by his first
9wife, Bernadette Treacy Weldon; and
 
10    WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Paul Weldon was
11survived by his wife, Diane Schikora Tentler Weldon; his three
12children, Matthew, Treacy (Dan) O'Keefe, and Marirose; his
13wife's three children, Robert, David, and Julie Tentler; his
14five siblings, Mary Pat (Ken) Woitas, Maureen Weldon, Bill
15(the late Madonna) Weldon, Madeleine (Mike) Weldon-Linne, and
16Michele Weldon; his in-laws, William (Deborah) Treacy, Barbara
17Treacy, Rosemary Treacy, Mary Pat (Jeff) Sutter, and Sharon
18Carroll; and his 27 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Paul J. Weldon and extend our sincere condolences to his
22family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
