2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Joseph J. "Joe" Davinroy Sr. of | ||||||
4 | Smithton, who passed away on January 21, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Joe Davinroy was born in East St. Louis to Albert | ||||||
6 | and Verena (Zollinger) Davinroy on March 14, 1933; he | ||||||
7 | graduated from Central Catholic High School in East St. Louis | ||||||
8 | and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, installing | ||||||
9 | communication lines; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Joe Davinroy was the owner of A.S. Davinroy P & H | ||||||
11 | Inc.; he belonged to Plumbers Local 360 and served as | ||||||
12 | president of Illinois State P & H Contractors in 1981; he was a | ||||||
13 | lifetime member of the Great Southwestern P & H Contractors | ||||||
14 | Association; he was a founding member of Camp Ondessonk, | ||||||
15 | installing all of the original plumbing, and served on the | ||||||
16 | board of directors for many years; he was a founder and | ||||||
17 | president of the FSH (Freeburg Smithton Hecker) Water | ||||||
18 | Commission; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, During Joe Davinroy's 26 years of retirement, he | ||||||
20 | enjoyed his family farm and raising dahlias, which led to his | ||||||
21 | membership in the Greater St. Louis Dahlia Society; he enjoyed | ||||||
22 | making stained glass windows, lamps, and Christmas gifts for |

1 | many, along with homemade cookies and candy; he also enjoyed | ||||||
2 | using brass from his plumbing business to make sculptures; he | ||||||
3 | loved to spend his summers going to picnics and playing bingo | ||||||
4 | and spent many years with The Old NewsBoys; he also spent | ||||||
5 | weekends selling glass cleaner at the flea market in | ||||||
6 | Belleville; he was a member of the Smithton Senior Center and | ||||||
7 | enjoyed Monday Night Meals, which included playing cards and | ||||||
8 | fellowship after dinner; he also met a long-time group of | ||||||
9 | friends each Wednesday for breakfast and companionship; and | ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Joe Davinroy loved traveling both within the | ||||||
11 | states, especially to New Orleans to visit family, and abroad, | ||||||
12 | which led to him serving on the board of directors for Golden | ||||||
13 | Frontier; he also served on the board for the San Damiano | ||||||
14 | Retreat Center in Golconda; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Joe Davinroy was preceded in death by his | ||||||
16 | parents; his former wife, Patricia Davinroy; his brother, | ||||||
17 | Albert J. Davinroy; and his sisters, Theresa Weurz and Mary C. | ||||||
18 | Walsh; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Joe Davinroy is survived by his children, Elaine | ||||||
20 | Davinroy, Ann (Christopher) Lintzenich, Joe Davinroy Jr., and | ||||||
21 | John (Debbie) Davinroy; his grandchildren, Phillip (Kathryn) | ||||||
22 | Lintzenich, Jacqueline (Adam) Forsyth, Michael and Alexa | ||||||
23 | Davinroy, and Nick, Chris, and Maddie Jones; and his long-time |

1 | companion, Jenene Biggerstaff; therefore, be it
| ||||||
2 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
3 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
4 | Joseph J. "Joe" Davinroy Sr. and extend our sincere | ||||||
5 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
6 | him; and be it further

7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
8 | presented to the family of Joe Davinroy as an expression of our | ||||||
9 | deepest sympathy.
