SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Ronald D. Ladley, who passed away on
4January 15, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ronald Ladley was born in Springfield to Roy
6Clinton and Loraine MacMillan Ladley on May 24, 1938; he
7graduated from Illinois College with a degree in business,
8history, and education; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ronald Ladley enjoyed a long and distinguished
10career as a local real estate broker and as an owner of real
11estate, but he was happiest when he could share his knowledge
12with others by helping individuals start their own real estate
13careers; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Ronald Ladley took an interest in his community
15by volunteering and serving on the boards of the Springfield
16Association for Retarded Citizens (SPARC), United Cerebral
17Palsy (UCP), the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), the
18Springfield Jaycees, the Rotary Club of Springfield, the Ansar
19Shriners, and the American Red Cross; he served as chairman of
20the Illinois Historic Sites Commission, the Springfield
21Historic Sites Commission, and the Sangamon County Historical
22Society; and

1    WHEREAS, Ronald Ladley was actively and personally
2involved in community service; he volunteered as a tour guide
3for the Clayville Historical Site in Pleasant Plains and for
4the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library; and
 
5    WHEREAS, In addition to Ronald Ladley's community
6involvement, his personal achievements were quite extensive;
7he was president of the Capitol Area Association of Realtors
8in 1987 and received the Realtor of the Year Award in 1989 and
9the Realtor Hall of Fame Award in 1995; he influenced
10legislation to provide State workers with health benefits
11during the Ogilvie administration; he was Supervisor of
12Research Studies for the Illinois State Superintendent of
13Public Instruction and served as an Analyst of Schools for the
14Illinois Department of Education; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Ronald Ladley spent much of his life volunteering
16on behalf of the Sangamon County Republican Central Committee
17as well as for the statewide and national GOP; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Family and friends admired Ronald Ladley for
19being a well-spoken, fun-loving individual, who could be
20counted on to speak well of other people; his warm smile,
21gentle caring heart, wisdom, kind personality, and generosity
22will be greatly missed; and

1    WHEREAS, Ronald Ladley was preceded in death by his
2spouses, Jayne Millwee Ladley and Lynda Long Ladley; his
3parents; his siblings, Stanley Ladley and Marjorie Ladley
4Kimmel; his grandson, Jacob Brown; and his great-grandson,
5Jayse Tyler Goodwin; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Ronald Ladley is survived by his daughters,
7Cynthia (Tom) Leepper, Ronda Ladley, and Judith Brown; his
8grandchildren, Kimberly, Heather, Jesse, Desiree, and Zachary;
9his great-grandchildren, Shayne, Alyissa, Avery, and Bella;
10several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his loving
11companion, Mary Renner; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Ronald D. Ladley and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Ronald Ladley as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
