SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Eugene Everard "Gene" Welch of Rock
4Island, who passed away on January 16, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gene Welch was born to John and Gladys (Anderson)
6Welch in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on July 1, 1938; he served in the
7U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1960; he married Jeanetta Lou Valeu
8in Cedar Rapids on November 5, 1960; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Gene Welch worked as a machinist at the Rock
10Island Arsenal; after 27 years and 7 months of faithful
11service, he retired on April 2, 1993; while working on the
12Arsenal Island, he served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and
13retired on June 30, 1998; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Gene Welch was a member of the First Church of the
15Nazarene in Rock Island; he also loved worshipping and
16visiting with his family at Heritage Church on Saturday
17evenings; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Gene Welch was a loving husband, father, papa,
19great-grandpa, and friend; he was an avid firearm enthusiast;
20he loved reading, playing computer games, and collecting
21things; he especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren

1participate in their extracurricular activities and being with
2family; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Gene Welch was preceded in death by his wife,
4Jeanetta, and his parents; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gene Welch is survived by his daughter and
6son-in-law, Tamijean and Eric Mumma; his grandchildren,
7Ashlyn, Abigail (Anthony), Amanda, and E.J. Mumma; his
8great-granddaughter, Amora Pittington; and his several nieces,
9nephews, and extended family members; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Eugene Everard "Gene" Welch and extend our sincere condolences
13to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
14it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Gene Welch as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
