SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Joseph "Joe" Kline of rural Cordova,
4who passed away on February 2, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joe Kline was born to Ferdinand and Harriet
6(Druehl) Kline in Moline on August 12, 1932; he graduated from
7Cordova High School in 1950 and attended Northern State
8Teachers College for one year; he married Joyce Forsythe at
9her home in rural Cordova on June 14, 1952; he was drafted into
10the United States Army in 1953 and served in Korea until being
11honorably discharged in 1954 with the rank of Staff Sergeant;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Joe Kline was a lifelong farmer in Coe Township;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Joe Kline and his wife volunteered with Pathway
16Hospice for over 10 years; he was a former Boy Scout Master,
17coached Little League Baseball, and served as a volunteer
18fireman with the Cordova Fire Department; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Joe Kline was a member of Bethel Baptist Church
20in rural Port Byron, American Legion Post #1033, and the
21Illinois Farm Bureau and was a former member of the Cordova

1Lions Club; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Joe Kline enjoyed crossword puzzles, fishing,
3boating, and mowing; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Joe Kline was preceded in death by his parents
5and his three brothers, Robert, Merton, and John; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Joe Kline is survived by his wife; three
7children, Lawrence (Gay) Kline, Mary (Steve) Rupe, and Charles
8(Tammy) Kline; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; his
9sister, Joyce (Jim) Piatt; his sister-in-law, Pat Morthland;
10and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Joseph "Joe" Kline and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Joe Kline as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
