SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Donald L. "Don" Haskins of Rock
4Island, who passed away on February 11, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Haskins was born to Raymound and Dorothy
6Haskins in Rock Island on May 11, 1932; he married Jean Behrens
7at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rock Island on August 2,
81952; he served in the U.S. Army for two years; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Don Haskins owned Don's Barber Shop in Rock
10Island for 42 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Don Haskins was a true family man and had friends
12everywhere he went; he enjoyed watching Cubs baseball, playing
13golf, and fishing in Canada with his brothers, sons, and
14nephews; he was an avid fast pitch softball pitcher for 34
15years, and he pitched a perfect game in 1972; alongside his
16family, he traveled to many state and national softball
17tournaments and enjoyed playing in the World Softball
18tournament at Douglas Park; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Don Haskins was preceded in death by his parents;
20his brothers, Bob, Howard, Jerry, and Wayne; his son, Tim; and
21his grandsons, Sam, Charlie, and Evan; and

1    WHEREAS, Don Haskins is survived by his wife of 69 years,
2Jean; his children, Tom (Margaret Mary), Ellen (Mike), and Sue
3(Bryan); his daughter-in-law, Jana; his grandchildren, Chris
4(Stephanie), Stacie, Brittney (Brandon), Dustin (Renea),
5Addison, and Henry; and his great-grandchildren, Zach, Cullen,
6Eliott, Brenna, Jackson, and Eva; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Donald L. "Don" Haskins and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Don Haskins as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
