SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Italo "Lo" Milani of Rock Island, who
4passed away on February 6, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lo Milani was born in Viareggio, Italy on July 6,
61930; his family conducted business in the Chicago area
7beginning in 1920 and made the final move to the U.S. in 1936
8to escape fascism; he graduated from the Marmion Military
9Academy and served as a pilot instructor in the U.S. Air Force;
10he married Joann Hickey in 1956 and graduated from the
11University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1957 with a degree
12in architecture; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Lo Milani relocated to Rock Island and started
14his own business in 1962; he had a passion for the arts and
15volunteered for the Quad City Arts and oversaw installations
16of sculptures in the area; his architectural designs can be
17found throughout the Quad Cities and include the Henry County
18Courthouse remodel, Sunset Heights, Fire Station 5, and St.
19Pius and St. Patrick Church of Andalusia; starting in the late
2080s, he worked as an environmental architect based in the
21Chicago area; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Lo Milani was involved with the Cliff Dwellers of

1Chicago, the Rotary of Rock Island, and the Quad City Society
2for Italian Americans; he loved tennis and was an avid skier,
3enjoying trips to Wisconsin, Colorado, and Lake Tahoe; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Lo Milani was preceded in death by his son,
5Marco; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Lo Milani is survived by his wife, Joann; his
7children, Dino (Ellen), Franco (Sherri), Carlo (Brenda), and
8Gina (Clay); his grandchildren, Samantha, Ali, Bella, and
9Mitch; and his sister, Loretta Seabrook; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Italo "Lo" Milani and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Lo Milani as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
