SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Clayton "Clay" Lynn Cope of Alton, who
4passed away on December 11, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Clay Cope was born to Lynn E. Cope and Carla M.
6Cope in Alton on December 27, 1991; he served in the U.S. Navy
7for six years and toured on the USS Eisenhower, reaching the
8rank of AT3 (AW); and
 
9    WHEREAS, While in the Navy, Clay Cope received a series of
10awards and decorations, including the national defense service
11medal and the global war of terrorism expeditionary medal; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Clay Cope died unexpectedly following a tornado
13incident at his place of work; he was helping others find
14shelter shortly before his passing; he will be remembered as a
15beloved son, brother, and friend; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Clay Cope is survived by his parents and his two
17sisters, Rachel B. Cope and Alexandra M. Cope; therefore, be
18it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
