SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Ralph F. Appel of East Moline,
4formerly of Milan, who passed away on December 4, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ralph Appel was born to William and Myrtle
6(Williams) Appel in Stockton on December 20, 1932; he proudly
7served in the U.S. Army; he married Phyllis Schreck on July 5,
81953; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ralph Appel worked in maintenance at several
10places before retiring from the Rock Island Arsenal; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ralph Appel was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran
12Church in Milan and the Milan American Legion Post #569; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ralph Appel was an avid gardener; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Ralph Appel was preceded in death by his wife;
15his parents; his sons-in-law, Wesley Matter and Steve Evans;
16and his siblings, Julene Knouse and William Appel Jr.; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Ralph Appel is survived by his children, Janet
18Matter, Patsy Holland, William "Bill" (Mary) Appel, and Roger
19(Wendy) Appel; seven grandchildren; several

1great-grandchildren; and his sister, Wilma Jean Schubert;
2therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Ralph F. Appel and extend our sincere condolences to his
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Ralph Appel as an expression of our
10deepest sympathy.
