SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Roger Sobottka of East Moline, who
4passed away on March 2, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Roger Sobottka was born to Henry Freida (Kempf)
6Sobottka in Plum City, Wisconsin on March 1, 1934; he served
7with the U.S. Army for three years; he married Yvonne Richards
8Noll in Davenport, Iowa on May 22, 1982; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Roger Sobottka worked as a machinist for
10International Harvester for 32 years, retiring in 1992; he was
11later employed as a bus driver for United Township High School
12from 1993 until 2003; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Roger Sobottka was a member of Faith Lutheran
14Church and the Elks Lodge; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Roger Sobottka enjoyed playing golf, traveling,
16and woodworking and liked tending to his yard and his motor
17home, snowbirding in Texas, and snowmobiling in Wisconsin; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Roger Sobottka was preceded in death by his
19brothers, David (Val) Sobottka, Stanley Sobottka, and Dale
20(Joyce) Sobottka, and his sisters, Carol (Burt) Huneke,

1Shirley Dodds, and Ellen (Gene) Kirchner; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Roger Sobottka is survived by his wife, Yvonne;
3his children, Joy (Duane) Hill, JoAnne (Danny) Brunat, and
4Julie (Mark) Larvenz; his stepson, Pete Noll III; his
5grandchildren, Matt Miner, Michelle (Darrick) Calhoun, Deidra
6(Mark) Landergren, Katie Hill, Keith Hill, and Cameron
7VerBeke; his step-grandchildren, Pete Noll IV, Zachary Noll,
8and Patrick Noll; his great-grandchildren, Aiden Hill and
9Jameson Stokes; his sisters, Joyce Hawke and Janie Terpstra;
10and his brother, Tom (Jane) Wider; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Roger Sobottka and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Roger Sobottka as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
