SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Marvin E. Day Jr. of Springfield, who
4passed away on March 6, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marvin Day was born in Chicago to Marvin E. Sr.
6and Ezella Day on November 12, 1962; he graduated from
7Southeast High School in Springfield and married Dana
8Bankhead-Day on October 17, 1998; he married KaMyra Doaks on
9July 11, 2020; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Marvin Day began working for Springfield Public
11School District 186 at Sandburg Elementary School; on July 10,
122000, he began his employment with the City of Springfield
13Public Works, where he was especially proud of his dedicated
14service; he retired on November 12, 2021 after 21 years of
15service; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Marvin Day enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing
17his music; for years, he played bass guitar with the Funky Me
18and the Unfound Funk, Magnum Force, Unique Experience, The
19Force, and numerous other bands until he stopped playing and
20devoted his time to raising his children; he coached the girls
21track team at Southeast High School and enjoyed mentoring and
22training the girls; and

1    WHEREAS, Marvin Day was preceded in death by his father,
2Marvin E. Day Sr.; his father-in-law, Paul Harmon; his sister,
3Debra Henderson; his grandparents, Ezell and Helena Booth,
4Charles and Orene Day, and William and Della Webster; and his
5uncle, Charles Day; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Marvin Day is survived by his mother and father,
7Ezella and Milford Webster; his mother-in-law, Jacqueline
8Harmon; his wife, KaMyra Day; his son, Keon Day; his daughter,
9Starrsha Bankhead; his son, Diondre Doaks; his daughter,
10Dierra Doaks; his sisters, Lisa (Jon) Sloan and Sheila
11(Dennis) Hanson; his granddaughter, Imani Rochelle Mixon; his
12special aunts, Joyce (Willis) Logan, Lanie Meredith-Bailey,
13and Joel Webster; his special uncle, Ned Kerr; his special
14cousin, Michelle (Brian) Kerr-Spry; and numerous nieces,
15nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Marvin E. Day Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Marvin Day as an expression of our
