|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Olive Mobed, who passed away on May |
4 | | 17, 2021 at the age of 96; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Olive Mobed and her twin brother were born in |
6 | | Coventry, England on December 24, 1924; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, After the Second World War, Olive Mobed graduated |
8 | | from nursing school and then specialized in both eye care and |
9 | | midwifery; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Olive Mobed started her nursing career in |
11 | | Birmingham, London and soon moved to Iran to teach midwifery |
12 | | as a member of the World Health Organization; and |
13 | | WHEREAS, In Iran, Olive Mobed met and married her husband, |
14 | | Jehangir (John) Mobed; and |
15 | | WHEREAS, Olive Mobed and her husband moved to the United |
16 | | States in 1963, where she worked as a nurse in the obstetrics |
17 | | departments of hospitals in Boston, Massachusetts, Washington |
18 | | D.C., and Jacksonville, Florida, before settling in River |
19 | | Forest in 1969; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, Olive Mobed continued her career as a nurse at |
2 | | West Suburban Hospital until her retirement in 1986 and |
3 | | continued to serve as a volunteer for 20 years; and |
4 | | WHEREAS, As an adventurous traveler, Olive Mobed toured |
5 | | much of Europe as well as more exotic locales, including Egypt |
6 | | and Nepal; in addition to experiencing new cultures, she was |
7 | | an avid reader, tennis player, and pianist; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, As an active member of the community, Olive Mobed |
9 | | contributed to a local charity group that supported the |
10 | | British Home and was a member of the Berean Bible Students |
11 | | Church in Lombard and later First Presbyterian Church of River |
12 | | Forest; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Olive Mobed is survived by her three children, |
14 | | Parvine MacDonald and her husband, Mark, Sue Arends and her |
15 | | husband, Dan, and Jim Mobed and his wife, Henrike; her eight |
16 | | grandchildren; and one great-grandson; therefore, be it

17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
19 | | Olive Mobed and extend our sincere condolences to her family, |
20 | | friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
