SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of James R. "Jim" Grafton, who passed
4away on March 31, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Grafton was born to Jimmi Ryan and Barbara
6Ann (Circle) Grafton in Moline on April 25, 1951; he graduated
7from Moline High School in 1969; he attended the University of
8Iowa; he served in the U.S. Marine Corps; he married Mary in
9East Moline; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jim Grafton was the owner and president of
11Blackhawk Foundry and Machine in Davenport, Iowa; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jim Grafton served as the county chairman during
13the reelection campaign for Governor Jim Thompson; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Jim Grafton was an avid University of Iowa
15Hawkeyes fan and loved sports; he enjoyed spending time at his
16cabin in Wisconsin and spending summers fishing with his
17father, son, and nephews in Canada; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jim Grafton was preceded in death by his parents
19and his brother, Joshua Circle Lee Grafton; and

1    WHEREAS, Jim Grafton is survived by his wife, Mary; his
2children, Abby Grafton and Ben (Justine) Grafton; his
3stepchildren, Shawna (Josh) Coram and Alisha (Tim) Frederick;
4his step-granddaughter, Grace Coram; his sisters, Mindy
5(Steve) Kruse and Suzi Apple; and his beloved dogs; therefore,
6be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9James R. "Jim" Grafton and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Jim Grafton as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
