SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Betty L. McClure of Virginia, who
4passed away on June 1, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Betty McClure was born to Elmer and Cora Evelyn
6Logan Bell in Philadelphia on October 18, 1926; she married
7Charley E. McClure in Virginia on December 21, 1945, and he
8preceded her in death on October 25, 2009; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Betty McClure served as a cook at many area
10restaurants, including Rossi's Restaurant, the Virginia Inn,
11and The Depot, as well as Walker Nursing Home, all in Virginia;
12she also cleaned many area offices; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Betty McClure was known for her pies, noodles,
14and bread pudding; she enjoyed watching the St. Louis
15Cardinals, making baby blankets, embroidering, and flower
16gardening; she especially enjoyed attending her children's and
17grandchildren's activities; she will be remembered for her
18sociable nature and for always having a smile on her face; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Betty McClure was preceded in death by her
20parents; her husband; an infant son, Charles Edgar McClure;
21and her siblings, Lyle Bell, Elmer Junior Bell, Josephine

1Harris, William Bell, Lucille Bell, and James Bell; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Betty McClure is survived by her children, Joyce
3(Rich) Gusewelle, Carolyn Ann (John) Gebhardt, Philip Edison
4McClure, and Randy Lee (Tacy) McClure; her grandchildren,
5Stephanie (Paul) King, Rachel (Mark) Ruppel, P.J. (Shawn)
6Force, Tyrone (Kristy) Gebhardt, Philip Kiley (Jacqui)
7McClure, John Thomas McClure (companion, Laurie Holland), Gena
8(Atwood) Huff, David (Crissy) Rochester, and Jody (Brad)
9Racey; her 24 great-grandchildren; her 11
10great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Dale Bell, Jerry
11(Mary) Bell, Frank Bell, Donnie (Patricia) Bell, Davey Bell,
12and Gloria (Dennis) Sweatman; and her many nieces and nephews;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Betty L. McClure and extend our sincere condolences to her
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Betty McClure as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
