2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Charles W. "Charlie" Brandt of Milan, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on August 1, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Charles Brandt was born to Henry G. Brandt Sr. | ||||||
6 | and Agnes M. Wingard Brandt in Rock Island on December 12, | ||||||
7 | 1930; he married Patricia Ryan at Sacred Heart Cathedral in | ||||||
8 | Davenport, Iowa on October 3, 1953; he served in the U.S. Air | ||||||
9 | Force; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Charles Brandt founded Brandt Construction | ||||||
11 | Company in April 1959, where he served as president and | ||||||
12 | chairman of the board; he led his company through an expansion | ||||||
13 | into all industries within the construction field; after 63 | ||||||
14 | years in the business, he served as president for nine | ||||||
15 | different companies; throughout his leadership, he touched the | ||||||
16 | lives of many and treated every employee as if they were his | ||||||
17 | own family; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Charles Brandt was a member of St. Ambrose | ||||||
19 | Catholic Church in Milan; he served as a Third Degree Knight in | ||||||
20 | the Knights of Columbus Council 532 in Davenport for 64 years; | ||||||
21 | he was also a member of the TPA Quad City Post, the Moose Lodge | ||||||
22 | #190, Milan American Legion Post 569, and Rock Island VFW Post |

2 | WHEREAS, Charles Brandt was an avid hunter and fisherman; | ||||||
3 | he loved spending time with his sons and grandsons, whether it | ||||||
4 | was spent on the farms, while deer or geese hunting, or while | ||||||
5 | chasing tarpon in Costa Rica; his passion for construction | ||||||
6 | spread into his free time, and he could often be found on the | ||||||
7 | farm playing with his construction equipment and his dogs; he | ||||||
8 | loved Labradors, possessing many over the years; he also | ||||||
9 | enjoyed horse racing in his younger years and even owned a few; | ||||||
10 | and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Charles Brandt was preceded in death by his | ||||||
12 | parents; his brothers, Henry G. Brandt Jr. and William "Bill" | ||||||
13 | Brandt; his sister, Betty Zwer; and his daughter-in-law, | ||||||
14 | Brenda Brandt; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Charles Brandt is survived by his wife, Patricia | ||||||
16 | Brandt; his children, Terry Brandt, Tim (Krystal Miller) | ||||||
17 | Brandt, Jane (Kevin Trasorras) Brandt, Todd (Laura) Brandt, | ||||||
18 | and Trent (Cathy Vanthournout) Brandt; his six grandchildren; | ||||||
19 | and his six great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| ||||||
20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
21 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
22 | Charles W. "Charlie" Brandt and extend our sincere condolences |

1 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
2 | it further

3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
