SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Edward A. "Ed" Welvaert of Moline, who
4passed away on September 25, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ed Welvaert was born to Edward B. and Pauline
6(Walters) Welvaert in Moline on January 2, 1929; he married
7Viola "Vicki" Johnson in Moline on September 1, 1956; he
8served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received a
9Purple Heart; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Ed Welvaert worked as a telephone repairman for
11the Illinois Bell Telephone Company for 38 and a half years
12until his retirement in January 1991; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ed Welvaert was a member of the Telephone
14Pioneers and the Ex-Servicemen's Club; he was an avid Moline
15Maroons sports fan and cheered for the Chicago Cubs, the
16Chicago Bears, and the Fighting Illini; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Ed Welvaert was proud of being a participant on
18an Honor Flight with his son, Jeff, on May 23, 2013; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Ed Welvaert was preceded in death by his
20siblings, Dorothy Haynie and Bob Welvaert; and

1    WHEREAS, Ed Welvaert is survived by his wife of 66 years,
2Vicki; his children, Jeff (Lynn) Welvaert and Cathy (Tracy)
3Best; his grandchildren, Tyler (Brianne) Best, Ryan (Britani
4Holmes) Best, Christopher Best, Jay (Lynnie) Welvaert, Sam
5Welvaert, and Connor (Sarah) Welvaert; and his
6great-grandchildren, Jamie, Cooper, Jacob, and Charlie;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Edward A. "Ed" Welvaert and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Ed Welvaert as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
