SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Eilene Taylor, who passed away on July
429, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Eilene Taylor was born to Clyde and Minnie Taylor
6on November 15, 1929; she earned her bachelor's degree in
7Education and her master's degree in Counseling; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Eilene Taylor was a teacher in the Bethalto
9School District for 29 years; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Eilene Taylor served as a volunteer at the Oasis
11Women's Center for 35 years, and she was recognized with the
12Governor's Volunteer Service Award for her dedication and
13devotion to helping abused women; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Eilene Taylor was very active in the fight for
15equal rights for women and often marched, rallied, and
16petitioned in support of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA); and
 
17    WHEREAS, Eilene Taylor loved taking walks, reading, and
18drinking gin martinis and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan;
19she was very proud of the accomplishments of her children,
20grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and

1    WHEREAS, Eilene Taylor was preceded in death by her
2parents; her husband, Maurice Elfgen; her infant daughter,
3Lucinda Jane; her brother, Charles Taylor; her grandsons,
4Scott Rhodes and Ryan Aud; and her brother-in-law, Byron
5Sackett; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Eilene Taylor is survived by her twin sister,
7Darlene Sackett; her sister, Betty Taylor; her children, Jo
8(John) Gammage, Sandy (Mark) Rhodes, Nancy (Steve) Aud, and
9Catherine Elfgen; her grandchildren, Cary (Jan) Hunter, Greg
10Hunter, Brandon Gammage, Sean Gammage, Kimberly (Pat)
11Anderson, Rachelle (Jim) Crowe, Lucinda Tanksley, and Lera
12Leonberger; her 12 great-grandchildren; and her
13great-great-grandson; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Eilene Taylor and extend our sincere condolences to her
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Eilene Taylor as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
