2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 558 by replacing | ||||||
3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

4 | "Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding | ||||||
5 | Section 17-1000 as follows: | ||||||
6 | (220 ILCS 5/17-1000 new) | ||||||
7 | Sec. 17-1000. Inspection of connections to residential | ||||||
8 | rental properties and individual rental units. | ||||||
9 | (a) A unit of local government may request that an | ||||||
10 | electric cooperative or municipal system inspect the | ||||||
11 | connection to a meter in a specified residential rental | ||||||
12 | property or the submeter in an individual rental unit to which | ||||||
13 | it delivers utility services to ensure that the billing of the | ||||||
14 | property or unit is accurate. The electric cooperative or | ||||||
15 | municipal system shall inspect the property or unit within 60 | ||||||
16 | days after receipt of the request. |

1 | (b) An electric cooperative or municipal system shall post | ||||||
2 | on its publicly available website any residential rental | ||||||
3 | properties or individual rental units that are revealed to | ||||||
4 | have a discrepancy between the service provided and the cost | ||||||
5 | billed to the customer. | ||||||
6 | (c) An electric cooperative or municipal system shall | ||||||
7 | report to the Attorney General any residential rental | ||||||
8 | properties or individual rental units that are revealed to | ||||||
9 | have a discrepancy between the service provided and the cost | ||||||
10 | billed to the customer. ".
