Amends the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity shall establish a Local Chamber of Commerce Business Program for the purpose of providing grants to certified local chambers of commerce. Provides that grant moneys may be used to market and develop the service area of the chamber of commerce for the purpose of generating local, county, and State business taxes and to provide small businesses with professional development, business guidance, and best practices for sustainability. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Department of Commerce and Economic |
5 | | Opportunity Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois |
6 | | is amended by adding Section 605-1110 as follows: |
7 | | (20 ILCS 605/605-1110 new) |
8 | | Sec. 605-1110. Local Chamber of Commerce Business Program. |
9 | | The Department shall establish a Local Chamber of Commerce |
10 | | Business Program for the purpose of providing grants to |
11 | | certified local chambers of commerce. Grant moneys may be used |
12 | | to market and develop the service area of the chamber of |
13 | | commerce for the purposes of generating local, county, and |
14 | | State business taxes and to provide small businesses with |
15 | | professional development, business guidance, and best |
16 | | practices for sustainability. No single chamber of commerce |
17 | | shall receive grant funds under this program in excess of |
18 | | $50,000 in any State fiscal year.

19 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
20 | | becoming law.
