Amends the Medical Assistance Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. Requires the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to adopt policies and rates for long-acting reversible contraception on or before October 1, 2023 to ensure that reimbursement is not less than the actual acquisition cost. Requires the Department to submit any necessary application to the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for the purpose of implementing such policies and rates. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by |
5 | | adding Section 5-50 as follows: |
6 | | (305 ILCS 5/5-50 new) |
7 | | Sec. 5-50. Long-acting reversible contraception. The |
8 | | Department shall adopt policies and rates for long-acting |
9 | | reversible contraception on or before October 1, 2023 to |
10 | | ensure that reimbursement is not less than the actual |
11 | | acquisition cost. The Department shall submit any necessary |
12 | | application to the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid |
13 | | Services for the purpose of implementing such policies and |
14 | | rates.

15 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
16 | | becoming law.
