| 1 | AN ACT concerning regulation. | ||||||
| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, | ||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly: | ||||||
| 4 | Section 5. The Barber, Cosmetology, Esthetics, Hair | ||||||
| 5 | Braiding, and Nail Technology Act of 1985 is amended by adding | ||||||
| 6 | Sections 2-12, 3-11, and 3-12 as follows: | ||||||
| 7 | (225 ILCS 410/2-12 new) | ||||||
| 8 | Sec. 2-12. Licensed cosmetology teacher seeking license as | ||||||
| 9 | a barber teacher. A licensed cosmetology teacher who submits | ||||||
| 10 | to the Department an application for licensure as a barber | ||||||
| 11 | teacher must meet all requirements of this Act for licensure | ||||||
| 12 | as a barber teacher, except that an applicant who has at least | ||||||
| 13 | 3 years of experience as a licensed cosmetology teacher shall | ||||||
| 14 | be given credit for hours of instruction completed for his or | ||||||
| 15 | her cosmetology teacher license in subjects that are common to | ||||||
| 16 | both barbering and cosmetology in the supplemental barber | ||||||
| 17 | course. The Department shall provide for the implementation of | ||||||
| 18 | this provision by rule. | ||||||

| 14 | licensure as a cosmetology teacher must meet all requirements | ||||||
| 15 | of this Act for licensure as a cosmetology teacher, except | ||||||
| 16 | that an applicant who has at least 3 years of experience as a | ||||||
| 17 | licensed esthetician teacher or licensed nail technician | ||||||
| 18 | teacher shall be given credit for hours of instruction | ||||||
| 19 | completed for his or her esthetician teacher or nail | ||||||
| 20 | technician teacher license in subjects that are common to both | ||||||
| 21 | esthetics or nail technology and cosmetology. The Department | ||||||
| 22 | shall provide for the implementation of this provision by | ||||||
| 23 | rule. | ||||||
