AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4895 

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4895 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section 
527-13.1a as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/27-13.1a new)
7    Sec. 27-13.1a. Climate change education.
8    (a) Beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, every public 
9school shall provide instruction, study, and discussion of 
10climate change. The instruction shall include, but not be 
11limited to, identifying the environmental and ecological 
12impacts of climate change on individuals and communities and 
13evaluating solutions for addressing and mitigating the impact 
14of climate change, and the instruction shall be in alignment 
15with State learning standards, as appropriate. 
16    (b) The State Board of Education shall, subject to

1appropriation, prepare and make available multi-disciplinary 
2instructional resources and professional learning 
3opportunities for educators that may be used to meet the 
4requirements of this Section.
 
5    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 
62025.".
