1 | AN ACT concerning education. | |||||||||||||||||||
2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, | |||||||||||||||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly: | |||||||||||||||||||
4 | Section 5. The Career and Workforce Transition Act is | |||||||||||||||||||
5 | amended by changing Section 10 as follows: | |||||||||||||||||||

7 | Sec. 10. Transfer of credits. | |||||||||||||||||||
8 | (a) A public community college district shall accept up to | |||||||||||||||||||
9 | 30 credit hours transferred from an institution that has been | |||||||||||||||||||
10 | approved under Section 15 of this Act if a student has | |||||||||||||||||||
11 | completed one of the following programs at that institution: | |||||||||||||||||||
12 | (1) Medical Assisting. | |||||||||||||||||||
13 | (2) Medical Coding. | |||||||||||||||||||
14 | (3) Dental Assisting. | |||||||||||||||||||
15 | (4) HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning). | |||||||||||||||||||
16 | (5) Welding. | |||||||||||||||||||
17 | (6) Pharmacy Technician. | |||||||||||||||||||
18 | (7) General Carpentry. | |||||||||||||||||||
19 | (8) Interior Systems Carpentry. | |||||||||||||||||||
20 | (9) Drywall. | |||||||||||||||||||
21 | (10) Floor Covering. | |||||||||||||||||||
22 | (11) Mill-cabinetry. | |||||||||||||||||||
23 | (12) Millwright. |

26 | The program must, at a minimum, be a 9-month program and use a |

1 | credit-hour system. | ||||||
2 | (b) The public community college district may accept the | ||||||
3 | credits as direct equivalent credits or prior learning | ||||||
4 | credits, as determined by the district and consistent with the | ||||||
5 | accrediting standards and institutional and residency | ||||||
6 | requirements of the Board, the Higher Learning Commission, | ||||||
7 | other State and national accreditors, and State licensing | ||||||
8 | bodies, as appropriate. | ||||||
9 | (c) Any designation given by the Board of credit hour | ||||||
10 | value for items (1) through (6) under subsection (a) shall be | ||||||
11 | applied by the community college district as direct or | ||||||
12 | elective credit toward an associate degree of applied science | ||||||
13 | or its equivalent as determined by the community college | ||||||
14 | district. | ||||||
