1 | | AN ACT concerning business. |
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 | | represented in the General Assembly: |
4 | | Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business |
5 | | Practices Act is amended by adding Section 2EEEE as follows: |
6 | | (815 ILCS 505/2EEEE new) |
7 | | Sec. 2EEEE. Fees or commissions on third-party software |
8 | | programs and applications. No person who hosts an online |
9 | | distribution platform for third-party software programs or |
10 | | applications shall charge a fee or commission on a purchase |
11 | | made by a customer through a software program or application |
12 | | that was distributed through that platform. |
13 | | Any person who violates this Section commits an unlawful |
14 | | practice within the meaning of this Act. |
15 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
16 | | becoming law. |
