| 1 | | AN ACT concerning business.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business |
| 5 | | Practices Act is amended by adding Section 2EEEE as follows:
|
| 6 | | (815 ILCS 505/2EEEE new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 2EEEE. Fees or commissions on third-party software |
| 8 | | programs and applications. No person who hosts an online |
| 9 | | distribution platform for third-party software programs or |
| 10 | | applications shall charge a fee or commission on a purchase |
| 11 | | made by a customer through a software program or application |
| 12 | | that was distributed through that platform. |
| 13 | | Any person who violates this Section commits an unlawful |
| 14 | | practice within the meaning of this Act.

| 15 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 16 | | becoming law. |
