HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Shuntel Rapheal "Shun" "Best Kept" Williams, who passed away on April 1, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Shun Williams was born to Felicia Elise McClain and Larry (Doby) Williams in Peoria on November 20, 1982; he committed to his faith at an early age and attended Faith Missionary Full Gospel Church; he was engaged to Sharece Marie Yearian, his partner of 10 years, and they raised two children together, Champion Emory-Maddox Williams and De'Kijia Vonece; and

WHEREAS, Shun Williams was a dedicated employee at Little Caesars Pizza, a position that allowed him to pursue his passions; and

WHEREAS, Shun Williams was deeply passionate about music and was a talented musician and rapper; he collaborated and recorded with numerous talented artists, including his lifelong best friend, Greg Flowers, known as Passport Louis; Some of his career highlights include recording at Grand Hustle Studios, also known as T.I. Studios, in Atlanta, Georgia and recording with King Louis; his classic album Lisa's Youngest Boy garnered widespread acclaim and headlined at the South by Southwest "SXSW" festival in Austin, Texas; he also performed at the Michigan Music Festival and the Peoria Riverfront Festival; he was known for his collaborations and tours with underground artists, including King Louie, Mickey Factz, the Founder of Pendulum Inc., and No Fatigue; he had recently released one of his first solo songs and was a finalist in the Royalty of the Mic event in 2023; and

WHEREAS, Shun Williams enjoyed traveling with his family and acting as their personal comedian; his love for his family knew no bounds; and

WHEREAS, Shun Williams was a force of nature, pouring his heart and soul into his music and everything he did; he will be remembered for his infectious smile, laugh, and music; and

WHEREAS, Shun Williams was preceded in death by his father; his brother, Shadrone McClain; his aunt, Earnestine Williams; and his grandparents, Ernest McClain, Nellie Corrine McClain, Excenia Woods Cannon, and Willie Williams; and

WHEREAS, Shun Williams is survived by his children, Jayshun Sincere, Janya Anarie Angie, Jaliyah Elise Brenaisa, and Justice Tahiry; his mother; his sisters, Tiffany Williams and Angela Williams; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins, including Christian Jon Evans and Timothy Jonathon Hugan; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Shuntel Rapheal "Shun" "Best Kept" Williams and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Shun Williams as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
