HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the 2023-2024 7th and 8th
4grade girls basketball team of Alexander Graham Bell
5Elementary School for winning the Chicago Public School
6district-wide championship, CPS Score!; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Coach Mark Klein of the girls Bell Blaze team
8remains committed to girls athletics and has instilled the
9values of hard work and sportsmanship in his players; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Assistant Coaches Jessica Ransom, Jermaine Marks,
11and Derek Yerkovich have also been crucial to the success of
12the Bell Blaze team; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Coach Mark Klein started the girls Basketball
14program in 1993 and has been head coach since; and
 
15    WHEREAS, This district-wide championship marks Coach Mark
16Klein's fourth consecutive championship win; and
 
17    WHEREAS, The Bell Blaze team members are Vega
18Ransom-Marks, Mary Hickman, Allie Reynolds, Nicole Toledo,
19Eliana Snopek, Alana Kroot, Lucia Azzarello, Callie Possinger,
20Paniz Baluch, Eva Yerkovich, Jordyn Alfarara, Mia Fojtik, Zoe

1Shey, and Sarah Neely; and
 
2    WHEREAS, The team displayed exemplary defense,
3understanding that patience and cooperation in these
4situations would allow for fast-breaks and opportunities to
5take chances; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Despite the team's hardships due to multiple
7player injuries, the result of their success stems from
8superior ball movement and coming together as a united front;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we congratulate Alexander Graham Bell Elementary School on the
13district-wide championships of their 7th and 8th grade girls
14basketball team; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to Alexander Graham Bell Elementary School to
17highlight the impactful role of sportsmanship and athleticism
18on young people.
