2 | | WHEREAS, COIII Shelly Hill has been nominated for the |
3 | | Lifesaver Award, a prestigious award given to members of the |
4 | | correctional officer community who have taken actions to save |
5 | | the life of another person; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, On the night of November 1, 2023, at |
7 | | approximately 10:08 p.m., COIII Shelly Hill heard a Code 16 |
8 | | Medical Emergency that was called over the institutional radio |
9 | | system in Housing Unit #10 C-Wing of the Northeast |
10 | | Correctional Center in Bowling Green, Missouri; and |
11 | | WHEREAS, COIII Shelly Hill and several staff members |
12 | | immediately leapt into action and discovered that offender |
13 | | Howard Chevelle was not breathing; and |
14 | | WHEREAS, COIII Shelly Hill performed several rounds of CPR |
15 | | on the inmate, and he regained the ability to breathe |
16 | | approximately half an hour later; therefore, be it |
17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
18 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
19 | | we commend COIII Shelly Hill for going above and beyond the |
20 | | call of duty to save the life of another person, reflecting |
21 | | great merit upon herself and the entire law enforcement |
