HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jonathan
4E. Laxamana, who passed away on December 7, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jonathan Laxamana was born on October 4, 1970; he
6earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of
7Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1992; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Jonathan Laxamana worked as the digital project
9coordinator for JAMA, the Journal of the American Medical
10Association, beginning in December of 2019; prior to that, he
11worked for 41Eightyseven as part of Location Services, The
12McGraw Hill Companies as a senior digital editor, The
13Counselors of Real Estate as communications manager, and
14Encyclopedia Britannica as a senior editor; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jonathan Laxamana volunteered as the program
16director for the Chicago Filipino American Film Festival from
17October 2004 to May 2013 and as the program director for the
18Chicago Asian American Showcase at the Gene Siskel Film
19Center, beginning in October of 2013; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Jonathan Laxamana was a founding board member for
21Full Spectrum Features, a Chicago-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit

1organization committed to driving equity in the independent
2film industry by producing, exhibiting, and supporting the
3work of women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ filmmakers; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jonathan Laxamana was the beloved son of Rellie
5and the late Terry Laxamana; the loving brother of Joe
6(Denise) Laxamana; the fond uncle of Cathlyn Laxamana; the
7dearest nephew of Generosa Laxamana, Estelita Aquino, Marvilou
8Belo, Antonio Reynaldo, and the late Ferrelou Reynaldo; and
9dear family member to many loving relatives in the
10Philippines; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we mourn the passing of Jonathan E. Laxamana and extend our
14sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
15and loved him; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Jonathan Laxamana as an expression
18of our deepest sympathy.
