HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Danny
4Barlow of Chicago, who passed away on July 3, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Danny Barlow was born to Marlene Barlow and
6Rapier "Ray" Bond in Chicago on June 13, 1953; he was the
7firstborn and the older sibling of four brothers, Samuel,
8Sylvester, Derrick, and Larry, and two sisters, Cheryl and
9Erica; he committed to his faith at an early age and was
10baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church; he attended
11Forestville Upper Grade Center and Dunbar Vocational High
12School, participating in such activities as singing, tap
13dancing, wrestling, and JROTC, where he achieved the rank of
14lieutenant colonel and was a battalion commander, and he
15played the piano, the bugle, and the trumpet; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Danny Barlow married Linda, and they had two
17children, Danny and William, before the marriage ended and
18they subsequently became lifelong friends; he married Marie
19years later, and she brought to the union six children,
20Tyjuana, Jack, Cyrita, Lamar, Edward, and Lawrence, before
21they had three children of their own, Vernon, Daniel, and
22Maria; together, they were the grandparents and
23great-grandparents of more than 50; and

1    WHEREAS, Danny Barlow worked as a union carpenter with
2Carpenters Local 1185, initially joining as a teenager and
3remaining an active member until his retirement decades later;
4he was passionate about his job and enjoyed laying tile and
5working on construction sites, becoming well-known in the
6flooring industry; during his tenure, he helped hundreds join
7the union, including his sons, grandsons, and numerous
8friends; he worked as a flooring consultant for multiple
9businesses until his passing; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Danny Barlow was always the life of the party and
11the heart of any gathering; he enjoyed betting on horses,
12gambling on casino boats or in Las Vegas, cooking, and
13grilling; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Danny Barlow will be remembered for his work
15ethic, his leadership, and his infectious joy; therefore, be
16it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
18HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19we mourn the passing of Danny Barlow and extend our sincere
20condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
21him; and be it further
