| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Rev. Dr. Adron Robinson | ||||||
| 4 | on the occasion of his 15th anniversary as senior pastor of | ||||||
| 5 | Hillcrest Baptist Church in Country Club Hills; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Pastor Robinson, the son of Beauford and Alice | ||||||
| 7 | Robinson, was born and raised in Chicago; he committed to his | ||||||
| 8 | faith at an early age, being baptized at the age of six under | ||||||
| 9 | Pastor William F. Fristoe of Providence Missionary Baptist | ||||||
| 10 | Church in Chicago; he later became licensed to preach and | ||||||
| 11 | earned a Bachelor of Arts from DePaul University, a | ||||||
| 12 | certificate in Urban Ministry from the Seminary Consortium for | ||||||
| 13 | Urban Pastoral Education (S.C.U.P.E.), and a Master of | ||||||
| 14 | Divinity and a Doctorate of Ministry, both from Northern | ||||||
| 15 | Baptist Theological Seminary; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Pastor Robinson was called to serve as assistant | ||||||
| 17 | pastor of Shiloah Baptist Church under the leadership of | ||||||
| 18 | Pastor Ronald Webb in 2005, where he was subsequently ordained | ||||||
| 19 | and served in a number of capacities, including as youth | ||||||
| 20 | minister, conference teacher, and revivalist throughout the | ||||||
| 21 | United States and West Africa; and | ||||||
| 22 | WHEREAS, Pastor Robinson became the first-ever African | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | American senior pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, located in | ||||||
| 2 | Country Club Hills, in April 2009; during his tenure, he has | ||||||
| 3 | remained committed to serving the Hillcrest family and the | ||||||
| 4 | surrounding communities with compassion and integrity; under | ||||||
| 5 | his leadership, the Hillcrest congregation has remained | ||||||
| 6 | committed to their faith while living the word of their faith | ||||||
| 7 | and transforming lives; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Over his pastoral career, Pastor Robinson has | ||||||
| 9 | remained passionate about men's ministry, establishing the | ||||||
| 10 | Men's Fraternity at Hillcrest Baptist Church and cultivating | ||||||
| 11 | its purpose for the last 10 years; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Pastor Robinson currently serves on the Executive | ||||||
| 13 | Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention and as president | ||||||
| 14 | of the Illinois Baptist State Association, becoming one of | ||||||
| 15 | three African Americans to hold the position of president in | ||||||
| 16 | the organization's history; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Pastor Robinson has been married to his wife and | ||||||
| 18 | the first lady of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Veronica Robinson, | ||||||
| 19 | since 2001; they continue to serve their faith in both | ||||||
| 20 | marriage and ministry; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 22 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||

| 1 | we congratulate Rev. Dr. Adron Robinson on his 15th | ||||||
| 2 | anniversary as senior pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, and | ||||||
| 3 | we wish him continued success in his endeavors; and be it | ||||||
| 4 | further | ||||||
| 5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 6 | presented to Pastor Robinson as an expression of our esteem | ||||||
